The existing café is open selling hot and cold food and drinks.


There is standing viewing on the picnic area next to the slipway into the lake. Picnic tables are also available to use in this area.

Accessible viewing is available from the picnic area. Part of the picnic area is on a slope and grassed so please ask for assistance from volunteers depending on accessible needs

Other Tips:

Please bring binoculars if you have them to see what is happening on the water. The lake is over 1km long.

Accessible viewing at Pugneys is from the concrete walkway at the rear of the grassed viewing area or anywhere else around the lake.

It is a council owned and run facility and an RYA development centre. As well as being a sailing and water-sports venue it is also a local leisure destination for walkers / dog walkers / bird spotters and open for free all year round.

Sailing will take place at this Country Park in Wakefield

There will be an Honoured Guest Desk at the venue and the hosts will be able to direct you to the spectator areas.

Awards ceremonies – details to be confirmed

The competitions will take place outside, so clothing and footwear should be weather appropriate and sun cream may be advisable as the events take place during the day.
